Contest Rules

Each valid entry will be eligible for a random drawing to win the 885 Essential Songs Countdown Contest. Prizes courtesy of WXPN and FYE.

1. How to Enter the Contest:

1. You can submit your entry starting at 7am on Monday, July 14, 2008. All entries must be received by XPN no later than 11:59pm on Sunday, September 7, 2008. All times are Eastern Time.
2. To participate in the contest, use any one of the following methods, but all entries must include your first and last name, address, and all other requested information on the voting page:
   • Become a Member of WXPN, or make a membership contribution to WXPN,
   • Enter your top ten songs on the 885 Essential Songs Countdown form,
   • Provide all of the necessary information (name, address, phone number where we can reach you during the day, email address, and any other requested information) on a plain sheet of paper and fax your entry to WXPN.

3. XPN is not responsible for a submission that is lost, undelivered or misdirected, or for entries not received due to difficulty accessing the internet, service outages or delays, computer difficulties, or other technological glitches.
4. From all entries, one entry and five alternates will be chosen at random on October 16, 2008, and the first selected eligible contestant will be announced as the Grand Prize winner on the air on October 22, 2008. The Grand Prize winner will be notified by phone and email.

2. Eligibility Restrictions

The contest is open to adults (18 years or older). Employees of XPN, its contest sponsors, volunteer staff members managing the contest, and the members of their households are ineligible to participate in the contest or win. One entry per person.

3. The Prize:

• A collection of 25 World Cafe CDs
• Ten CDs featuring the Top 10 Songs in the 885 Essential XPN Songs Countdown
• Two passes to attend a World Cafe session with host David Dye
• Two 4-day passes to the 2009 XPoNential Music Festival
• Passes for two to attend every XPN Free at Noon concert for one year
• Collection of XPN branded merchandise from the XPoNential Music Shop

4. Selection of Winner:

• Decisions of station management with respect to the contest are final.
• A single entry and five alternates will be selected at random on October 16, 2008 from all entries received by the deadline, and the first selected eligible contestant will be announced as the Grand Prize winner on October 22, 2008.
• Winner need not listen or be present to win. XPN will contact the winner. If the grand prize winner does not claim the prize within 24 hours after the winner is notified, that contestant will forfeit the prize and an alternate winner will be selected in order from the alternate entries drawn.

5. Conditions:

• Payment of all federal, state and local taxes is the sole responsibility of the winner.
• By participating in the contest, the winner agrees to have his or her name, voice, or likeness used in any advertising or broadcasting material relating to this contest without additional financial or other compensation, and to sign a publicity release prior to acceptance of the prize. The winner must also sign a prize receipt and certify compliance with all eligibility requirements prior to release of the prize.
• XPN, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to disqualify any person for tampering with the entry process or with the operation of the XPN Web Site or who is otherwise in violation of the rules.

6. Right to Make Changes

XPN reserves the right to make changes in the rules of the contest, including the substitution of a prize or prizes of equivalent or greater value, which will become effective upon announcement.

7. No Purchase Required

No purchase or donation is necessary.

8. Responsibilities

XPN is not responsible for typographical or other errors in the printing, the offering or the administration of the contest or in the announcement of a prize.

9. Copies of the Contest Rules

Copies of the written contest rules will be available up to 30 days after the end of the contest at www.xpn.org. You may also receive the rules by mail by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope to WXPN 885 Essential Songs Contest, Online Dept., 3025 Walnut Street, Philadelphia, PA, 19104.
