Blood Feathers – XPoNential Music Festival

The name Blood Feathers sounds more fitting of a heavy metal band than the River Stage opener for XPoNential’s Sunday line-up, but their blend of dirty south and rock and roll served as an excellent introduction to the day. Beginning with a steady and heavy beat, the crowd knew early on Blood Feathers were here to have fun.
With three guitarists, one might think the guitar could be overpowering, but the band often traded guitar duty depending on who was singing. The vocals were powerful and the harmony sounded dead on. The crowd cheered when the group broke out their first real guitar solo during “The Same Mad Part,” and it deserved it.
Their best performance came with the fast and fiercely performed “Hard Being You I’m Sure.” Catchy and quick paced, the singer turned red as he punched through the lyrics perfectly.
Blood Feathers combined country twang and good old rock and roll to get the crowd here in Wiggins Park jazzed for the rest of the afternoon and evening.
