    “When The Saints Sleep”

    by Johnny Miles

You probably recognize him from last week’s blog about the Philadelphia Songwriters Showcase blog, but Johnny Miles has earned his spot as a Philly Local Pick of the Day all on his own. Influenced by everything from Jack Daniels to Kurt Vonnegut, Johnny Miles will fit into your music collection filed under the genre of “great music”.  Miles grew up just across the river in New Jersey.  He has been writing poems and songs “for as long as he can remember”.  His songwriting skills have been perfected in his latest release, When The Saints Sleep, but even his earliest work shows his natural ability for songwriting.  Not only can he make his own music, but in 2004 he started up his own record label called TREE Records.

Here’s a taste of his second record, titled Sign of the Times.

Like what you hear? Johnny will be playing a live show next week. Check it out!

    June 8th @ The Khyber, Philadelphia (9pm, $8)
