____________
Pick of the Day 05/04/10:
“Nowhere”
by Mason Porter
Perhaps counterintuitively, Mason Porter is not a person. West Chester’s Mason Porter is a band, consisting of Joe D’Amico on mandolin and vocals, Paul Wilkinson on guitar and vocals, and Tim Celfo on guitar and vocals. The trio frequently features guests on instruments ranging from the dobro to the violin. Their sound is bluegrass at its core, but it retains both pop and indie sensibilities. A self-titled EP, released in 2008, quickly established Mason Porter in the local music scene.
This past December, they released their first full-length album, Thunder in the Valley, produced by American Babies’ Tom Hamilton. Catch one of their many shows around the state on their spring tour. See the dates here.
