Say it Again, Sam (Roberts)
Sam Roberts, one of our favorite North of the Border artists is back! He completely wow-ed the crowd at the 2007 Xponential Music Festival, and we’ve been playing his stuff and keeping an eye on him for a few years now… in one of those all too familiar stories, it’s a great artist who is HUGE back home, but can’t seem to get off the ground here in the states – with XPN being one of the exceptions in terms of support and budding fanbase. Sam’s new album Love At The End Of The World is #1 in Canada this week – it beat out Madonna, but there’s no label or US release date lined up yet. Maybe this new track will change all that. It rocks, it grooves, it’s got hooks, and it asks a question I’ve been pondering for the past few years – are we the last generation that really cares about rock? The lyric goes “If nobody listens / Are we still here? / Will we disappear? I just don’t understand why the kids don’t know how to dance to rock and roll!”
I’ve had Sam on the air playing acoustic (brilliant – grab the podcast of the interview with 2 songs at yrockonxpn.org), and his first album We Were All Born In A Flame was my favorite record of 2004… TODAY in the 6pm hour I will debut his latest “Them Kids” – and here’s the video, a very cool bit of social commentary on the Sims-like suburban wasteland too many find themselves inhabiting these days. Dig it!

Sam Roberts has great new merch that you can now get through their online store!!
