Philly sings Philly is a series of studio cover tracks recorded by philly musicians, commemorating the artistry and talent of philadelphia-based musicians.
The two track album features Chris “Griz” Grunwald‘s “My side of the Hill” sung by Ryan Tennis.
The charming authenticity of Ryan Tennis’ soft-on-the-soul sound leaves the listener with the comfortable feeling of time spent with an old friend. His singable melodies and disarming lyrics have drawn comparisons with Paul Simon, James Taylor and Amos Lee.Tennis credits today’s Philadelphia music scene with inspiring his sense of groove, driving him back to records by Bill Withers and Stevie Wonder for inspiration. He’s organized a monthly series of “Clubhouse Concerts” featuring standout musicians, reaching beyond the traditional folk scene. “What I learned from a couple years of listening to and playing with other Philly artists,” Tennis says, “is that if it feels good and it sounds good — and if it’s true — then it’s good music.” Ryan has just released his sophomore effort entitled Goodbye to the Ground.
On December 3rd, Tennis will be performing for the Appel Farm First Friday Series in Elmer, New Jersey, USA.
