The Barenaked Ladies…Taken literally
by Frances Torcivia, Reading, PA
Music is such a part of my life that I use it everywhere. My 13-year-old daughter was rocked to sleep by “No Rain” by Blind Melon because it contained the words, “I’ll always be there when you wake.”
We also did a lot of memorizing silly song words as a memory tool. Well, what was more catchy than “One Week” by the Barenaked Ladies. My daughter Madison and I fell in love with the song. When the Bare Naked Ladies came to our sleepy little town I bought tickets for my 8 year old, Madison, my older daughter, and I. On the eve of the concert I went upstairs to Madison’s room to discover all of her Barbie dolls were naked. She was totally shocked at the concert to realize that we were not really seeing BARENAKED LADIES. What imagination a child has.
