Springsteen takes London!

November 18th, 1975 was a memorable date for me. I was on Junior Year Abroad from college and what better cure for homesickness than to see Bruce at the Hammersmith Odeon in London! Springsteen posters were all over the Tube stations touting “The Future of Rock n’ Roll, Bruce Springsteen’s Born to Run Live at the Hammersmith Odeon.”
Little did I know then how seminal this moment was. The album and the appearance catapulted Bruce’s career into worldwide megastardom. Imagine my delight when I bought and watched the DVD of my favorite concert! I remember what a great ovation the London crowd gave and how it felt to be one of the few who knew all the words. The DVD is such classic Springsteen & the E Street Band. It’s so raw and powerful and watching it you know why this music became so big. I watch it over and over again and it takes me back to being 20 years old again like nothing else can.
