669: John Lennon’s “lost weekend”
Separated from Yoko, in October 1973 John and May Pang (the couple’s secretary) took off to Los Angeles to embark on what John called his ‘Lost Weekend’ - 18 months of wild partying in the company of Keith Moon, Ringo Starr, Klaus Voormann, and Harry Nilsson. During this time he made the album Walls and Bridges. For the first time since John had moved to the U.S., Julian came on a visit, and he sat in while John worked on the album. On “Ya Ya,” the album credits read, “Starring Julian Lennon on drums and Dad on piano and vocals.”
