Danielia Cotton Daniela Cotton was an XPN Artist To Watch in 2005, and it has been four years since she released her acclaimed album Rare Child. Since then, the singer-songwriter has endured some very personal tragedies. Between the two albums, she lost the twins she was pregnant with and survived cancer. Her new album, Gun In Your Hand, was inspired by her endurance of these, very personal, losses. The album embodies her typical blend of soul-searing funk and rock. On her single, “Save me,” Cotton pleads "I’m halfway to hell and the devil knows my name. Somebody save me, I don’t want to go crazy." The album is gut wrenching and intimate while searing with the spirit of someone who nearly drowned but somehow made it to shore. Cotton uses her raspy, bluesy wail to convey the story of, as she simply puts it, "survival." She also reworks “Lighthouse Keeper,” a lighter, hopeful tune. Cotton’s Gun in Your Hand is due out October 30.

Cotton played the Sellersville Theater on September 24, and will be playing XPN's Free At Noon show on Friday, October 26, 2012.
