Matt Costa's New Album, Mobile Chateau Comes Out Next Week, and
22 year-old Texas Native Sahara Smith's New Release, Myth of the Heart, is out now.
Growing up in California, Matt Costa started his musicianship at age twelve when he first
picked up a guitar. Though he was in a band throughout high school and wrote music in his
off-time, music wasn't his first love. He had dreams of being a pro-skateboarder, but after
an injury that took him out for over a year, Costa realized that his true calling was his music.
Subsequently, Costa begain churning out demos from his four-track. One of those demos made it into the hands of Tom Dumont, No Doubt guitarist, and soon Costa had a producer. After the two released a couple independent EPs, Jack Johnson invited the young singer-songwriter onto his label. It's only been up and up for Costa's easy-going guitar style, with three full-lengths and stage appearances with names like Death Cab for Cutie, Modest Mouse, and Oasis.
Costa's latest release, Mobile Chateau, could be a different thing entirely--Costa, who has always admired "'60s psychedelic superheroes" such as Donovan and the Electric Prunes, decided to take his music into that direction with this album. "I've always been drawn to that sound," he said. "I've been hearing songs like these in my head for my whole life and Mobile Chateau is the closest I've gotten to getting those songs out of my head and onto a record."

Located 28 miles southwest of Austin, Wimberley, TX, boasts natural springs and gravesites of early pioneers. It's also been the hometown to Sahara Smith - a stunning, young singer-songwriter who started performing at age 12, and first garnered national attention at age 15 when she placed second in a contest for young songwriters on A Prairie Home Companion.
Now 21, Sahara is poised for a breakout with Myth of the Heart, the just-completed album of original songs shepherded by T Bone Burnett and producer Emile Kelman due August 31. The album features many of Burnett's first-call session players, including drummer Jay Bellerose, guitarist Marc Ribot, and bassist Dennis Crouch.
