Join us for a Free at Noon at the World Cafe Live as Strand Of Oaks performs a live midday concert on Friday.

XPN Artist to Watch Strand of Oaks played a standout set at NonCOMM this spring, and the Philadelphia band is back to perform at Free at Noon this week. Frontman, songwriter and guitarist Timothy Showalter crafts intensely personal music, backed up by keyboardist Eliza Hardy-Jones, bassist Deven Craige and drummer Michael Sneerenger, and the band will release its new album, Heal, on Dead Oceans Records just three days before their Free at Noon performance. Strand of Oaks' heavy yet melodic sound is evident in tracks such as "Shut In" and the rollicking single Goshen '97," featuring J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr. on guitar, and the album will make you proud to be a part of the Philly music scene. Sign up to see Strand of Oaks at World Cafe Live on Friday, tune in to hear them on 88.5 XPN, and make plans to catch their tour homecoming show at Boot & Saddle on September 19. Click here for tix.

Join us for the Free At Noon at World Cafe Live in Philadelphia, as Jungle performs a live midday concert on Friday.

London based Jungle makes its first appearance in the Philly this Thursday at Union Transfer, and the next day they join us for XPN's Free at Noon concert series at the World Cafe Live. The band began making a buzz in the British music press last fall, and with their infectious blend of soul-laced R&B and dance music, it won't be long until they’re more widely recognized. Their self-titled debut album comes out July 15, and you’ll be able to hear them play music from it by joining us at World Cafe Live next Friday. Don't miss Jungle at Union Transfer on 6/19.
