Amos Lee Philly Local singer-songwriter Amos Lee takes his inspiration from soul and folk artists of the '70s. John Prine, Neil Young, James Taylor and Bill Withers have all been inspiration to him. And this Live Friday will feature this local favorite, playing his special blend of styles.

Amos Lee graduated from the University of South Carolina with a degree in English, but soon gave up his job as an Elementary School teacher to pursue his career as a musician. Lee first gained wide recognition when he toured with Norah Jones in 2004. His style is a pleasant and intriguing blend of folk, soul, and jazz, and every one of his releases has shown his versatility with these styles. Lee's latest, "Last Days At The Lodge", keeps up his range of melodies and feelings--slow to driving, simple to dark.

"Last Days At The Lodge" came out in 2008, and reception for the alt-folk sentiments was enthusiastic. As Jordan Richardson for Blog Critics wrote,"Amos Lee’s Last Days at the Lodge fits agreeably with a sinking sun on a summer evening." Lee took the feedback and has brought together a super list of people and music for his newest, "Mission Bell". Due for release in January, the album will include contributions from Willie Nelson, Lucinda Williams, Priscila Ahn, Pieta Brown, James Gadson, and Calexico.

Don't miss this week's Free at Noon with Amos Lee, as he gears up for his exciting new release the next month.
