WXPN is seeking a photojournalism student to cover concerts at venues around Philadelphia, and station events (Free at Noon concerts, World Café sessions) for The Key, WXPN's Philly music scene website. This intern will also assist with the completion of a digital library of images that 1) WXPN’s staff can easily and quickly search to find the appropriate photograph they are looking for, and 2) will preserve and archive the station’s history.

Working with his/her supervisor and utilizing Adobe Lightroom 3 software, the intern will be responsible for assisting with importing images; making basic photo adjustments; assisting in the editing process to select the best images and remove the unusable ones; assist in the process of keyword and metadata tagging images for search functionality; and assist staff with learning and understanding how to utilize the library for their needs.

Qualifications:

Must be over 21, and own a camera.

Strong understanding and familiarity with all basic digital photography topics, including file types, resolutions, aspect ratios, color management, etc.

Strong understanding and familiarity with the basic photo editing process in order to select the best images within a batch and remove out-of-focus, under-over exposed, and/or redundant images.
