Philly singer-songwriter Birdie Busch got a little help from her friends with Birdie Busch and the Greatest Night, released on January 8 as her first full-length album since 2009’s Pattern of Saturn. Busch’s latest freewheeling folk-rock effort was funded with the help of 137 patrons through PledgeMusic and released digitally to those patrons in October. Busch and the band also raised enough money to donate to West Philly’s Music and Mentorship program in addition to funding the recording of the new album. The group comprising Birdie Busch and the Greatest Night recorded live with Dr. Dog engineer Nathan Sabatino after having already toured together. Busch has shared the stage with Regina Spektor, Amos Lee and Dar Williams, and she her music has been critically lauded by the Philadelphia Inquirer, City Paper, New York’s Village Voice and American Songwriter.
