“The Many Moods of Ben Vaughn” Radio Show To Air Saturdays On WXPN
Composer, Producer Plays an Inspired Mix of Artists Each Week Beginning February 14

 

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. WXPN, the nationally-recognized leader in Triple A (Adult Album Alternative) music and a noncommercial radio service of the University of Pennsylvania today announced that it will begin airing “The Many Moods of Ben Vaughn” radio show every Saturday from 5-6 p.m. beginning Saturday, February 14.

South Jersey native Ben Vaughn has had an eclectic musical history. In the early 80s he formed the Ben Vaughn Combo. The band, together five years, was a hit on the Philly music scene releasing two albums and touring the US and Europe several times. They received rave reviews in Rolling Stone and People magazine. Next up was a move to L.A. where he was hired as composer for the award-winning TV sitcom "3rd Rock From The Sun." "That 70s Show" soon followed and for the next ten years Ben would provide award-winning music for a dozen other TV shows and pilots ("Men Behaving Badly", "Normal, Ohio", "Grounded For Life"). He also provided scores for several films ("Psycho Beach Party," "The Independent" and "Scorpion Spring"), continued producing records (Ween, Los Straitjackets, "Swingers" soundtrack CD), and remains a popular live performer in Europe.

“With Ben’s musical history, it should come as no surprise that his radio show would span the gamut,” said Bruce Warren, WXPN program director. “Each week our listeners will be able to hear an hourly mix of artists like The Stooges, Henry Mancini, Merle Haggard and Nina Simone. I mean, come on, where else are you going to hear anything like that? This is truly remarkable radio and it’s here on XPN.”
