Sarah Harmer - All Of Our Names - Rounder/Zoe Records

All Of Our Names is Sarah Harmer’s second album, the follow-up to her wonderful 2000 debut You Were Here. The Canadian singer-songwriter received great critical acclaim for her very personal debut; Time magazine called it “the year’s best debut,”

and Rolling Stone and various other music magazines followed suit with spectacular reviews – and for all good reason - Harmer is a gifted writer. She pays special attention to the small details of life and the human experience gives them a universal appeal.

As a female singer-songwriter Harmer sits in the upper tier with newer artists like Jonatha Brooke and Patty Griffin and recalls the warmth and intimacy of Suzanne Vega. While All Of Our Names doesn’t cut any new ground in terms of her style, Harmer continues to focus and hone her craft. Songs like “Pendulum,” “Greeting Card Aisle,” “Silver Road,” “Tether,” “New Enemy,” and “Almost" are the highlights, however for just over 40 minutes, Harmers seduces you into a world of intimacy and melodic enchantment.

All Of Our Names is near perfect acoustic music from an artist near and dear to XPN listeners’ hearts.
