Josh Ritter - The Historical Conquests of Josh Ritter - Victor

Josh Ritter is a prime example of an artist getting better and better as he goes along. We all knew he was super-talented, but even that didn't prepare me for the genius of this new album The Historical Conquests of Josh Ritter. It's a bona fide best of '07 contender, and a completely rewarding listening experience, whether you hear the album from start to finish or hear it a song at a time. Ritter's got it goin' on...

Every song's a winner on this new album, from the noisy but poetic opener "To The Dogs Or Whoever" to the one-two punch of the completely radio-ready "Mind's Eye" and "Right Moves" to spare, haunting, beautiful "Wait For Love" to the wonderful sing-along closer "Wait For Love (You Know You Will)". The album certainly rocks more, but never at the expense of the song. His phrasing, wordplay and arrangements are wonderful throughout.

It's a five-star effort, and it makes one wonder just how much better he can get. The Historical Conquests Of Josh Ritter deserves your undivided attention.
