Shame, Shame finds Dr. Dog a bit more reflective and emotional in the stories they tell. It seems as though the rigors of touring and time away from home has seeped into their songs. An attractive quality and strength of this band has always been their cheery multi-part harmonies amidst playful musical landscapes. Cleverly on Shame, Shame Dr. Dog mask their emotions behind these colorful backdrops, most notably on songs like "Mirror, Mirror" and "Unbearable Why."

Over the years, Dr. Dog has been applauded louder for their energetic live shows than for their work on record. Shame, Shame may very well change that philosophy. For the first time, the band has come pretty close to harnessing their lively performances on stage in the studio.
