Buena Vista Social Club - Rhythms Del Mundo - Hip-O Records

This unique compilation project brings together the legendary musicians of the Buena Vista Social Club and some of today's most popular artists Radiohead, Chris Martin of Coldplay, Sting, U2's Bono, Dido, Franz Ferdinand, Kaiser Chiefs, Arctic Monkeys, Jack Johnson and others. They perform collaborations of some of their classic hits, and the result is pure genius.

"The fact that Arctic Monkeys allowed their music to be included on a compliation, much less re-worked by other musicians speaks volumes regarding the overall care for and talent involved in this release."

In addition to the U.S. and U.K. artists, the CD includes some of the biggest stars in Cuban music. This includes a vocal recording from Ibrahim Ferrer, a certified legend, who - sadly - passed away in 2005.

Profits from this CD benefit Artists Project Earth, an environmental charity that supports natural disaster relief.

Rhythms Del Mundo is a rare opportunity for Latin music to gain exposure outside of its normal confines. If you like any of the artists on the track list, you will surely love this CD.
