the DB's The DB's are back with their first new album in over 25 years, Falling Off The Sky. They'll join us on August 31 for an XPN Free At Noon Concert.

A "power pop/jangle pop" band originally formed of Winston-Salem, North Carolina transplants in New York in 1978 by bass player Chris Stamey when he moved from North Carolina to NYC to attend classes at NYU. Their name is a reference to "drums and bass" as well as the abbreviation for deciBels. The band released two studio albums before Stamey left the group in '82 to pursue a career as a solo artist and producer and then switched up the line-up and released two additional records before they split in 1988. The band has since gotten back together as of 2005 and released a new album, Falling Off the Sky, in June 2012. Although they released two posthumous compilation albums in the 1990s after the break up,Falling Off the Sky was their first new studio release in 25 years and their first in 30 years with the original 1978 lineup. The band is currently playing shows in the U.S. in support of their new album.
