Formed in North Carolina by singer Amelia Meath and producer Nick Sanborn, Sylvan Esso has been praised for their ability to emote through their glorious synth textures, delivering a complete sound even with a minimal setup. After forming in 2013, the two have had a quick rise to fame and released their debut self-titled album this past May. They will play Union Transfer October 24th but you can catch them for a live midday concert that afternoon.
Kindness, the solo project of British artist Adam Bainbridge, also takes the stage this Friday. His synth-infused style reminiscent of 80s pop icons Prince and Duran Duran has gained attention from the likes of Pitchfork and MTV, who have hailed his ability to create sonic soundscapes. This month, he released a music video for his song "This Is Not About Us," as well as his second album Otherness. Be sure to catch him this Friday for Free at Noon, as it is his only Philadelphia appearance for the rest of the year.
