Nominated for the prestigious Mercury Prize as well as the Choice Music Prize in 2010 for their debut album "Becoming a Jackal" (Domino Records), the Villagers are rapidly heightening their presence in the music industry.

Irish songrwriter, Conor O'Brien fronts the band Villagers and they just released their 2nd album {Awayland}. Characterized as an Irish inide folk band, this five piece ensemble also includes Tommy McLaughlin, Danny Snow, James Byrne and Cormac Curran. Often compared to legendary musicians like Leonard Cohen and U2 for their exceptionally unique performances, the band has been experiencing an enormous amount of success. Classified as one of "The Best 50 Irish Acts Right Now" by The Irish Times, their debut album also peaked at number one on the Irish Independent Albums Chart.

Having recently released {Awayland} on Domino Records, the band, once again, realized musical success with the album peaking at number one on the Irish Albums as well as the Irish Independent Albums Chart. Following its release, the Villagers announced a fresh set of performances that includes a special visit to Philadelphia and XPN's Free At Noon on June 14 at World Cafe Live.

Special Guest, David Ford

David Ford's 4th studio album, Charge, was co-produced with James Brown (Foo Fighters and Kings of Leon), and released in March. It follows the wide spread acclaim that has greeted his previous three releases - including having his first two albums both named as UK 'albums of the year' in The Sunday Times and Word Magazine.

Since quitting his successful UK band 'easyworld' to go DIY solo in 2005, Ford has managed to bring his unique and passionately memorable live show to the USA & Canada every year and consequently has built a devoted fan base from Edmonton to New Orleans. David Ford is in town to play a full show at World Cafe Live on Friday night, June 14, 2013 at 8pm, and will open XPN's Free At Noon show with four songs.
