Join us for a Free At Noon Doubleheader with Jonathan Wilson and Spanish Gold at a live midday concert on Friday.
To capture the sweeping, cinematic landscapes of Southern California on 2013's Fanfare, Wilson brought a few Laurel Canyon stalwarts into the studio including David Crosby, Graham Nash and Jackson Browne. The result is an album that picks up where 2011's Gentle Wind left off, with Wilson's hushed vocals and intricate arrangements delving into deep jams on many of the 5:00-plus tracks. However, much Fanfare's artistry is rooted in an affinity for Pink Floyd this time around, lending itself to extended moments of instrumental exploration when played live. In addition to recording his own material Wilson is an active producer, most recently working on Conor Oberst's Upside Down Mountain and previously with Roy Harper, Father John Misty and Dawes.

Spanish Gold is a new project from members of My Morning Jacket (Patrick Hallahan), Hacienda/City and Colour (Dante Schwebel) and Brownout (Adrian Quesada. Though their main projects have very different sonic identities from each other, the members of Spanish Gold found common ground in having grown up during the height MTV's music programming. A love for everything from funk, hip hop, pop and R&B informed the songs on South of Nowhere, while the Texas and Nashville roots of the record still shine through.
