Shawn Colvin Shawn's new album and memoir are due out June 5. She plays a full show at World Cafe Live on June 30, and will be here for an XPN Free At Noon on June 8!

This week marked the next step in singer-songwriter Shawn Colvin's long and productive career in contemporary folk music. Colvin's eighth studio album, All Fall Down, was released through Nonesuch records. This latest effort, recorded in Nashville, features notable folk and country stars such as Emmylou Harris, Stuart Duncan, Alison Krauss, Jakob Dylan, and Julie Miller. All Fall Down will be Colvin's first record produced by Buddy Miller, whom she has toured and played with in the past.

The multiple Grammy award winning folksinger also published her first memoirs through Harper Collins. The work, entitled Diamond in the Rough, also hit the shelves this week. In these memoirs, Colvin looks back on her long journey to critical acclaim with candor and introspection. Her life has taken her from Illinois, to playing western swing in Austin, to the folk scene in New York. It was in the Big Apple where Colvin truly came into her own, winning the Grammy for Best Contemporary Folk Album for her 1989 studio debut, Steady On.
