Join us for the Free At Noon at World Cafe Live in Philadelphia, as Kat Edmonson performs a live midday concert on Friday.

With a touch of soul and singer-songwriter hooks, artist Kat Edmonson joins us for this week's Free at Noon show at World Cafe Live. A singer-songwriter originally from Texas now living in Brooklyn, Edmonson was on the second season of American Idol and was part of the Top 48 in Hollywood. After several years of playing clubs in the Austin music scene, the jazz-pop artist released her debut album, Take to the Sky, in 2009. Edmonson's voice encapsulates recent-era songbirds like Amy Winehouse and Adele. Last September, she released her third album, The Big Picture, and it combines her vintage pop pipes with old fashioned saxophone-infused jazz influences. Kat Edmonson plays the Whittaker Center in Harrisburg on February 27th and The Grand Opera House in Wilmington on March 1st. Join us this Friday to watch Kat Edmonson perform at World Cafe Live – RSVP to see the show in person, or listen live at 88.5 FM in Philadelphia or XPN.org.

Join us for the Free At Noon at World Cafe Live in Philadelphia, as Son Little performs a live midday concert on Friday.

Eclectic local artist Son Little joins us this week for a live midday concert at Free at Noon. The band is a project of Trenton multi-instrumentalist Aaron Livingston, who spent years collaborating with regional music favorites, playing guitar for The Roots and lending his vocals to RJD2’s Icebird project. Last year, Livingston came into his own as a songwriter and one man band, debuting as Son Little with the EP Things I Forgot, released on Anti- Records. It blends blues and soul, electronic pop and heavy rock and roll, and Son Little the band is an explosive powerhouse. They recently appeared on World Cafe with David Dye, performed at The Key’s Fireside Sessions at the Blue Cross RiverRink Winterfest, and are set to headline the Communion Philly showcase, Wednesday March 4th at MilkBoy(For more details visit Milkboy. Join us this Friday to see Son Little perform live at World Cafe Live – RSVP to see the show in person, or listen live at 88.5 FM in Philadelphia or XPN.org.

Join us for the Free At Noon at World Cafe Live in Philadelphia, as PHOX performs a live midday concert on Friday.

Wisconsin six-piece PHOX join us next Friday for a live Free at Noon concert. The indie pop / folk outfit formed in 2011 before releasing a debut EP called Confetti in 2013, followed by their self-titled LP last summer.

PHOX's star has risen quickly over the last few years, having already landed opening slots on tour with Blitzen Trapper, The Lumineers and The Head and The Heart. In March of last year the band recorded a World Cafe session while at SXSW in Austin and performed during the KUTX showcase.

Lauded for frontwoman Monica Martin's sweetly soulful voice and the layered instrumentals of her bandmates, PHOX presents a beautifully subdued yet fun spin on quirky indie pop that can be intimate in small settings (like at Boot & Saddle last July) or command the crowd in larger venues (like at the Tower Theater last December). XPN welcomes PHOX to Union Transfer for their largest Philly headlining gig on Friday, February 13th following the Free at Noon. Catch the free preview concert by RSVPing here or tuning in at 88.5 FM or XPN.org.
