Join us for the Free At Noon at World Cafe Live in Philadelphia, as the band Roomful of Blues performs live.

Swing revival stalwarts Roomful of Blues join us live for a Free at Noon next Friday. Blending traditional blues motifs with big band attitude, Roomful of Blues are five-time Grammy nominees with a discography that reaches back forty years.

To celebrate its 45th anniversary, the Rhode Island-based outfit released a specially-recorded live album in 2013 called 45 Live. Hand-picking tracks from their expansive back catalog, the eight current band members curated a retrospective release that exhibits their best qualities: fun, dance-friendly, party-starting music performed by expert musicians.

See the band in action at next week's Free at Noon, and at the Sellersville Theater that night at 8 PM

Jess Williamson’s Stripped Down Sound and Big Emotion

Februrary 24, 2014 - Our World Cafe: Next artist today, Jess Williamson, is from Austin, Texas and put out a new album on January 28th called Native State. It is a spare, personal disc that often finds Williamson with the simple accompaniment of a single instrument.
Fronted by Rachel Price, the band has a fresh take on pop, R&B, blues, rock and soul influences. The band recently released their album, Bad Self Portraits. Recent appearances on The Colbert Report, Letterman, and a critically acclaimed performance at the “Another Day/Another Time” concert celebrating the music of Inside Llewyn Davis concert last September at New York’s Town Hall has set this band into a rising star trajectory. The band’s songs offer a fresh and versatile take on pop, R&B, blues, rock and soul influences with lead singer Rachel Price’s confident voice at the center of the music. Simply put, Lake Street Dive are blowing up. Last month David Dye chose them as a World Cafe Next artist and they recently recorded a session for an upcoming Cafe. They play Union Transfer on April 2nd.
