Join us for the Free At Noon at World Cafe Live in Philadelphia, as Arkells and Jim Boggia and Friends perform a live midday concert on Friday Toronto’s Arkells are arguably among the best indie groups that hail from our neighbors up north. Just this year the band took home their second Group of the Year Juno Award for their album, High Noon. The band first made waves back in 2008 with their single “Oh, The Boss Is Coming!," a song which features their knack for catchy chorus’s and infectious indie-rock hooks. They headline MilkBoy on Saturday, October 10th, so Free at Noon is your chance to catch them early.

Following Arkell’s set, Jim Boggia and friends will play a special tribute in honor of what would have been 75th birthday.

Shemekia released her eighth record Outskirts of Love just a couple of weeks ago via Alligator Records, following up 2012's Grammy nominated 33 1/3 with a fiery blend of blues and rock. The Texas native has worked with Dr. John, Ruth Brown and Steve Cropper on previous releases, but joined forces with The Wood Brothers' Oliver Wood for the third time on this effort. During her almost two decade long career, Copeland has been dubbed the Queen of Blues, earning several Blues Music Awards and other accolades.

Shemekia headlines The Sellersville Theater on Thursday, October 1st, but you can see this XPN favorite early.

Join us for the Free At Noon at World Cafe Live in Philadelphia, as Kaleo performs a live midday concert on Friday.

Kaleo have experienced a high level of success in their home country of Iceland, beginning with an appearance at the 2012 Iceland Airwaves Festival. After releasing the Bon Iver-esque single "All the Pretty Girls" in 2014, Kaleo relocated to Austin, Texas where they made waves at the annual SXSW Music Conference. This summer saw the release of the band's latest single "Way Down We Go," while "All the Pretty Girls" became a hit on Triple A radio. Their songs are dark and atmospheric, with elements of the aforementioned Bon Iver and singer-songwriter Hozier.
