Saratoga Springs trio The Figgs join us next Friday for a live Free at Noon concert. The garage rockers formed in the late 80s, going on to release a strong collection of studio records that expanded with the debut of Other Planes of Here earlier this year. In addition to building their own career The Figgs have acted as backing band to Graham Parker and The Replacements' Tommy Stinson. Frontman Pete Donnelly, who is now based in the Philadelphia area, performed with Shelby Lynne at XPN's NonCOMMvention last week. Join us for the Free At Noon at World Cafe Live in Philadelphia, as Jonatha Brooke performs a live midday concert on Friday.

Joining us this week for Free at Noon is Jonatha Brooke. The Boston singer-songwriter got her start in the early nineties while at Amherst, performing in a duo called The Story. Ten solo records and two decades later, Brooke has now completed a very different kind of project. My Mother Has 4 Noses is an album and stage play that chronicles Brooke's experiences while caring for her mother, who was diagnosed with Alzheimers and moved in with her daughter in 2010. The play opened off Broadway in February of last year and comes to People's Light in Malvern for a run of dates in June. Join us at World Cafe Live for this special Free at Noon performance by RSVP-ing or tune into the live broadcast at 88.5FM and XPN.org.

The Free At Noon at World Cafe Live in Philadelphia is SOLD OUT, as Lord Huron performs a live midday concert on Friday.

This week’s Free at Noon will feature indie folk favorites Lord Huron. Hailing from Los Angeles, the band’s debut Lonesome Dreams gained praise and recognition from the likes of NPR and Stereogum. The band’s deep rooted country/folk sounds, along with their name, reflect Lake Huron that spans the Michigan and Ontario shores. Lord Huron founder Ben Schneider grew up visiting the lake and credits it for inspiring the group's musical sound. Their latest single is the lighthearted "Fool For Love,” which will appear on their new Strange Trails. The band kicks off a five-month tour starting April 22nd, stopping to play a sold-out show Philadelphia's Union Transfer on the first of May. Be sure not to miss them earlier that day as they hit the World Cafe Live stage for Free at noon. Join us by RSVP-ing for the performance or tune into the broadcast at 88.5 FM or XPN.org.
