Langhorne Slim: WXPN's June 2008 Artist to Watch

XPN Artist To Watch Langhorne Slim

Langhorne Slim (Sean Scolnick) is quite an unconventional folk and blues artist. Based in Brooklyn, and originally from PA, Slim's incredible skill at mixing elements of bluegrass, country, and blues has gained him recognition. {readmorelink}Read More...{/readmorelink}

His rambling style won him a tour with the Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players at the popular Bonnaroo Music Festival, which spread his music to a much larger audience. Before signing onto Kemado Records with his band The War Eagles in 2006, Slim released his album "Electric Love Letter" and "When the Sun Goes Down" (Narnack Records). "Electric Love Letter" became a hit, making it onto Rolling Stone's top ten picks and being featured in the movie Waitress.

Slim's recent success is due to his simple but eccentric lyrics and traditional yet strange melodies. An animated singer, his vocals are speckled with vulnerabilities and highly energetic. His self-titled CD was released on April 29.
