This week’s Free at Noon concert will feature Philadelphia folk scene regulars Mason Porter and The Chris Kasper Band as they perform songs from Grateful Dead's iconic records American Beauty and Workingman's Dead to celebrate the Dead’s 50th anniversary. To start the show, Mason Porter will be performing the Grateful Dead album “Workingman’s Dead” in its’ entirety, followed by The Chris Kasper Band performing the Dead’s “American Beauty” album in its’ entirety.
Kasper's 2013 album Bagabones, along with Mason Porter’s 2014 release Home for the Harvest, ensure that the collection of songs are in good hands, as both artists demonstrate their love and influence of Grateful Dead's work in their own music .
Released in 1970, American Beauty album has become a rock n' roll staple and spawned a legacy that fans view as a triumphant representation of an era. The album has gained widespread recognition for instrumental feats along with rankings in Rolling Stone's "Greatest Albums of All Time" list.
Don't miss these two performers this Friday as they reenact classics from “Box of Rain” to “Truckin’” on the World Cafe Live stage. Join us by RSVPing for this performance below or tune in to 88.5 FM.
