High-energy Nashville outfit Kopecky Family Band showed just a little bit of the arty, celebratory vibe they’ll bring to this summer’s XPoNential Music Festival when they played Non-COMM on Saturday.

The Kopecky Family Band of six dedicated, creative and unrelated musicians from Nashville sold out MilkBoy Philly in February. Their sweet folk rock sound pulls you under with their melodies and intelligent string arrangements that make for incredible and catchy compositions. Their 2012 self-released album Kids Raising Kids has generated a sea of positive feedback from many, including NPR’s Live from the World Cafe and Paste Magazine.

Formed in 2007, the Kopecky Family Band recently released their long-awaited full-length debut, Kids Raising Kids. Although none of six the members of the Kopecky Family Band are blood-related, they function as if they were a real and integrated family. With a brief listen to this band’s music, one can immediately appreciate the band’s strong sense of congruence that every band dreams of having.

CD of the Month, January, 2013

It’s not always easy for young bands to channel their youthful exuberance and still come away with a finished product that’s as representative as their intentions. For most bands, it usually takes a few records. But in the case of Kids Raising Kids, the debut full-length from the Nashville based Kopecky Family Band, the highly energized six-piece hit their target and then some. And that’s not to say that the Kopecky Family Band hasn’t taken some time to formulate their sound.
