The Slip: WXPN's December 2006 Artist to Watch

The Slip

The music of The Slip is deceptively straightforward rock. The layers and intricacy of the sound, with persevering drums, melodic vocals, and guitars that easily transition between smooth background and a driving heaviness, come through on a second listen.

There are three musicians in The Slip: guitarist Brad Barr, drummer Andrew Barr (they're brothers) and bassist Marc Friedman. It's been the three of them since the early '90s when they all went to high school together.

After graduating they moved to Boston, and began devoting a lot of time to an intense touring schedule that has built up a rabid fanbase. They have played sold out shows at the Bowery Ballroom in New York City and made well-received appearances at Bonnaroo, SXSW and Bumbershoot.

Their newest album "Eisenhower" was released on November 7, 2006 on Bar/None Records. The first single from the album, Even Rats, has earned itself an appearance as a bonus song on the popular Guitar Hero video game and as a pre-loaded song on the SanDisk mp3 player
