Volta hearkens back to the sound of Bjork's earlier solo work yet still has some of the experimental verve of her albums like Vespertine and Medulla. On Volta, Bjork collaborates with Timbaland, Antony Hegarty of Antony & The Johnsons, Konono No. 1, drummer Brian Chippendale, Toumani Diabate and an all-female Icelandic brass section.

Challenging and creative, Bjork once again proves why she commands and deserves such great respect as an artist/musician who never compromises her muse for anything less than an engaging sound and vision.
