Mural Arts Program and WXPN Collaborate on City-Wide Musical Mural Series

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — Mural Arts Program announces an exciting collaboration with WXPN (88.5 FM) to create Sounds of Philadelphia, a series of murals paying tribute to Philadelphia’s great musical heritage. Each mural will have a distinct theme including blues and jazz, rap and spoken word, sounds of the 1950s and 60s, and the singer-songwriter movement.

WXPN Announces New Music Director/Operations Manager

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (July 7, 2004) — WXPN, the public radio station of the University of Pennsylvania, has named Dan Reed its new music director/operations manager.

Reed will oversee WXPN’s production and programming operations, talent booking, and serve as the primary liaison to the music industry on behalf of the station and its national syndicated program World Cafe®. This fall WXPN will move into its new home and state-of-the-art studios in the historic Hajoca building at 3025 Walnut Street.

Ali Castellini Moves To Corporate Underwriting Team At WXPN

Philadelphia, PA (July 2, 2004) WXPN, the public radio station of the University of Pennsylvania, today announced that on-air host and talent relations manager Ali Castellini will join the Corporate Underwriting sales team on July 6.

Castellini brings to the position a wide variety of marketing, promotions, and broadcast operations experience. During her four years at WXPN she has helped raise the profile of the nationally syndicated World Cafe program, booking a long list of top name performers on the show. Castellini’s radio management experience includes the role of program director for WXDX in Pittsburgh where the station more than doubled its market share during her tenure.

Helen Leicht to Lead New Programming and Community Outreach Initiatives for WXPN

More than 3,000 listeners pledge to help build the new home of WXPN.
