Ali Castellini Moves To Corporate Underwriting Team At WXPN

Philadelphia, PA (July 2, 2004) WXPN, the public radio station of the University of Pennsylvania, today announced that on-air host and talent relations manager Ali Castellini will join the Corporate Underwriting sales team on July 6.

Castellini brings to the position a wide variety of marketing, promotions, and broadcast operations experience. During her four years at WXPN she has helped raise the profile of the nationally syndicated World Cafe program, booking a long list of top name performers on the show. Castellini’s radio management experience includes the role of program director for WXDX in Pittsburgh where the station more than doubled its market share during her tenure. Prior to WXPN Castellini served as director of interactive media for the online retailer CDNOW.

With her new responsibilities as a member of the five person underwriting team, Castellini is looking forward to branching out into new areas of station operations and expanding her professional radio experience. “In this changing media and entertainment landscape I figure the best way to preserve radio stations like XPN is to learn how they run and what will keep them solvent,” said Castellini. “I'm very fortunate to be at a place like XPN and work with managers who not only understand my career goals, but have also supported them from the beginning.”

"It's been more than four years since Ali joined XPN and she's had a huge impact on the station,” said Bruce Warren, assistant general manager for programming. “Honestly, she can do it all... and having her on the sales team will put her programming knowledge and marketing skills together in ways that will add to our continued growth."

The station is currently searching for a full time on-air host. Inquiries for World Cafe bookings should be directed to the Music Director at WXPN.

WXPN-FM is the non-commercial public radio service of the University of Pennsylvania and the premier radio showcase for contemporary music that spans the progressive edges of rock, folk, rhythm and blues, and American roots. WXPN can be heard in the greater Philadelphia/South Jersey area on 88.5 FM. in the Lehigh Valley at 104.9 FM, in Worton/Baltimore at 90.5 FM, and in Harrisburg at 88.1 FM.
