PHILADELPHIA, PA – An extraordinary night of local music will take place on Wednesday, December 21 at World Cafe Live as “Philly Bands Together” to benefit WXPN Musicians On Call, a weekly community outreach program that has been bringing live music to the bedsides of patients in area healthcare facilities, including The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the Hospital at the University of Pennsylvania, since October 2004.

“Philly Bands Together” will take over both the upstairs and downstairs venues at World Cafe Live with performances by more than 15 local groups and artists from the Philadelphia area, including Lauren Hart, Grey Eye Glances, Phil Roy, BC Camplight, Mutlu, Slo Mo/with Mic Wrecka, John Francis, Kate Gaffney, Catherine Tuttle, Denison Witmer, Lizanne Knott, Codename, Melody Gardot, Alec Gross, Trisha O Keefe, Vanida Gail, Antje Duvekot, Boris Garcia, Joseph Parsons, and Matt Duke.

“It’s been amazing to watch such a variety of musicians from the Philadelphia area step forward to volunteer their time and talents for this important program,” said Helen Leicht, WXPN’s mid-day host and Philly Local maven. “WXPN Musicians On Call is proof that the music community can have a positive impact in so many different and creative ways. To see how live music can change people’s lives and help them heal has been a wonderful experience.”

World Cafe Live is located at 3025 Walnut Street in Philadelphia. Tickets to this special benefit concert are $20 and are available now at the World Cafe Live box office, online at http://.tickets.worldcafelive.com, or by calling (215) 222-1400. Doors open at 6:00 pm and the show will begin at 7:30 pm. All proceeds from tickets sales will be donated to WXPN Musicians On Call.

This pioneering collaboration between WXPN and the New York-based Musicians On Call program, is made possible through the generous support of World Cafe Live, TIAA-CREF and AstraZeneca.
