88.5 WXPN Affirms Leadership Earning Three Top Honors At Music Industry Awards Ceremony

WXPN Picks Up Awards in the Categories of Non-Commercial Triple A Station of the Year, Programmer of the Year, and Air Personality of the Year

Philadelphia, PA – 88.5 WXPN, the nationally recognized leader in Triple A music won accolades from industry peers at a music industry awards ceremony hosted on August 5th by the radio trade publication Radio & Records, winning all three of the categories for which they were nominated. WXPN won "Non-Commercial Triple A Station of the Year" for the fourth consecutive year, while assistant general manager for programming, Bruce Warren took home his second award in two years for "Programmer of the Year," a category that included nominations from commercial radio stations. David Dye, host of the nationally syndicated World Cafe® was named "Triple A Air Personality of the Year."

”The XPN team has had many accomplishments during the past year - including the transition of World Cafe to NPR which has helped to expand our reach on air and online,” said Warren. “With all that’s been done, it’s especially gratifying to be recognized by our industry in such a big way.”

“Wow what an honor!” said Dye who beat out nominees from both commercial and non-commercial stations. “I am thrilled to receive the 'Air Personality of the Year' award and am so proud of the entire team at XPN and World Cafe.”

Dye created and began hosting World Cafe in 1991. The show is syndicated by National Public Radio to more than 185 stations nationally. Candid interviews and live appearances are the hallmarks of the daily radio program which has spawned 21 volumes of the Live @ the World Cafe® CD series featuring the show's live performances.

The awards process began during the spring when nominations were submitted in May of 2006. Ballots were then sent to Radio & Records’ Triple A subscribers, a collection of music industry decision-makers, who voted in each of the award categories. The final winners were announced at an Awards Luncheon at the Triple A Summit, a music industry conference, held in Boulder, Colorado last weekend.
