WXPN Artist To Watch For September: Gran Bel Fisher

PHILADELPHIA, PA– On Tuesday, September 5 WXPN, the nationally-recognized leader in Triple A music and noncommercial radio service of the University of Pennsylvania, will name Gran Bel Fisher the September XPN Artist To Watch . Host David Dye, will present the first of the month’s on-air segments focusing on this singer-songwriter on Tuesday during the four o’clock hour.

Fisher’s debut album Full Moon Cigarette (Hollywood Records) was released in July.

“The album is an excellent fusion of guitar driven rock, beautiful piano ballads, and pop and works on a number of levels,” said Bruce Warren, assistant general manager for programming at WXPN. "Gran Bel Fisher is a terrific new talent that deserves to reach a wider audience -- he is a great singer and a talented songwriter.”

“Gran Bel Fisher is one of our most pleasant musical discoveries of '06,” added Dan Reed, WXPN music director. “He has a tremendous voice, writes engaging songs, and possesses a wisdom well beyond his years. He's a major talent, and we could very well be seeing the start of a long and illustrious career.”

The XPN Artists To Watch series reflects WXPN’s commitment to nurturing fresh, new talent and exposing listeners to the best new music. Each month, the XPN Artists To Watch series spotlights a different up-and-coming performer who has produced an album or body of work that demonstrates outstanding vision, creativity and songwriting ability. Month-long on-air promotion is combined with online features to help audiences discover each artist.
