WXPN Releases XPN Local, Volume 2 CD Release Party to be Held at World Cafe Live

PHILADELPHIA, Pa., - WXPN, the nationally-recognized leader in Triple A (Album Adult Alternative) music and noncommercial radio service of the University of Pennsylvania is releasing its second compilation of local artists titled XPN LOCAL, VOLUME 2. The CD will be available as a membership thank you gift starting April 15 for a pledge of $75. WXPN will also make CDs available at its CD Release Party on Thursday, May 1, 2008. The Party is free and open to the general public.

The CD features 20 artists who hail from the WXPN listening region and present a variety of music styles heard on the station. The CD includes tracks from world renowned musicians and producers as well as newcomers on the music scene. Artists include: Sharon Little; Amos Lee; Illinois; Mutlu; Melody Gardot; The Brakes; Bitter, Bitter Weeks; The Hooters; Matt Duke; Dr. Dog; Nicole Reynolds; Peasant; Kuf Knotz & The Hustle; The Mint; Andrew Lipke; Madi Diaz; Jesse Ruben; Hoots & Hellmouth; Dan May; and Fooling April.

“WXPN has been supporting local music for many years and we are excited to release the second volume of music from this amazing community of musicians,” stated Helen Leicht, WXPN mid-day host and XPN Local producer. “All the artists have donated their songs to be used to help support WXPN and recognize that its members are helping make their journey possible.”

The CD Release Party will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2008 at World Cafe Live (located at 3025 Walnut Street, Philadelphia). Doors open at 6pm and the event starts at 7pm. The event, hosted by Helen Leicht, will feature sets from Illinois, Peasant, and The Mint as well as guest performances from Matt Duke, Jesse Ruben, Kuf Knotz & Nora Whittaker (of The Hustle) Nicole Reynolds, and Andrew Lipke.
