WXPN Features Langhorne Slim as the XPN Artist To Watch for June

PHILADELPHIA, PA – WXPN, the nationally-recognized leader in Triple A music and noncommercial radio service of the University of Pennsylvania, names Langhorne Slim as its June Artist To Watch. Host Jim McGuinn will present the first of the month’s on-air segments today, June 2, in the 4 p.m. hour.

Folk and blues rocker Langhorne Slim, born Sean Scolnick, has been wowing crowds with his band the War Eagles for the past several years. After touring with groups like The Violent Femmes and a performance at Bonnaroo, he grabbed the attention of the makers of 2007’s Waitress, which featured his song “Electric Love Letter.” Originally from Langhorne, PA, Slim played the Philly music scene for a while after graduating from the Conservatory of Music at Purchase College and is now based in Brooklyn. David Dye showcased Slim as the featured World Cafe Next artist in April. That same month, Slim released his latest self-titled album on Kemada Records which captures the energy and charm of Slim’s live shows. Langhorne Slim will be David Dye’s guest on WORLD CAFE® on June 4 and he’ll play the XPN Free At Noon concert on June 6 at World Cafe Live (3025 Walnut Street).

“Langhorne's new album is filled with some incredibly spirited folk and rock and punk influenced singing and songwriting," said Bruce Warren, assistant general manager of programming for WXPN. "Slim brings a fresh and creative spin on the age-old troubadour circuit.”
