WXPN Appoints New Assistant Music Director, On-Air Host

PHILADELPHIA, Pa., September 8, 2008 - WXPN, the nationally-recognized leader in Triple A (Album Adult Alternative) music and noncommercial radio service of the University of Pennsylvania, welcomes Mike Vasilikos as Assistant Music Director and on-air host.  Vasilikos responsibilities include producing and hosting podcasts and other online content, hosting live events, and hosting "The New Music Show" on Tuesday evenings.  His first day will be Monday, October 13 and he will report to Dan Reed, Operations Manager and Music Director.

"Mike is a hard working music fan who has done a tremendous job at WTMD," said Reed. "We are very fortunate to have somebody of his talents and work ethics join us here at WXPN. I can't wait to get him started!"

Prior to joining WXPN, Vasilikos spent four years as Program Director for WTMD in Towson, Md., a World Cafe® affiliate and noncommercial Triple A station serving the greater Baltimore area. 

"I'm very excited to take on this new challenge and I'm looking forward to working with a staff of this caliber, said Vasilikos.  "I have always had incredible respect for WXPN, and I can't wait to get to Philadelphia and be part of the team."

Vasilikos is a New York City native and graduate of Towson University in Maryland.  He currently resides in Baltimore.
