WXPN Features Annuals as the XPN Artist To Watch for November

Like few of their contemporaries are able to do, Annuals create lush and richly layered songs that nevertheless maintain a unique and undeniable pop sensibility. In 2006, this six-piece from Raleigh, North Carolina made waves in the blogosphere and independent press with their gorgeous debut, Be He Me. Now the group returns with their major label first, Such Fun, a genre-bending rock album that incorporates folk harmonies, symphonic orchestration, overdriven guitars, and electronics—often all in the same song. The album was released on October 7, 2008 via Canvasback Music.

”Annuals play thoughtful and ornately arranged melodic pop,” said Bruce Warren, Assistant General Manager of Programming for WXPN. “They fit in to the continuum of artists making warm and catchy indie pop and rock like Fleet Foxes, Midlake and New Pornographers.”

WXPN music director Dan Reed said, “Annuals are a refreshing band that will remind you of a lot of things, but really sound like no other. They have already proven themselves to be very talented pop craftsmen at a young age.”
