WXPN Celebrates the Environment at XPoNential Music Festival

Philadelphia, PA – June 24, 2009 - WXPN, the nationally-recognized leader in Triple A (Adult Album Alternative) music and noncommercial radio service of the University of Pennsylvania, will present a variety of environmentally-friendly services and activities at the 2009 XPoNential Music Festival presented by Subaru. This annual summer festival, in its 16th year, returns for a fifth year to Wiggins Park on the Camden Waterfront from Friday, July 24 through Sunday, July 26.

Returning to the festival for the second year is the Village Green, where attendees can learn about sustainable and eco-friendly products and services from companies that are leading the way in environmentalism throughout the Delaware Valley. Festival goers will have the opportunity to learn about renewable energy and solar power, green building materials, and organic soil; purchase bamboo clothing; and even acquire information about socially responsible investing.

"Our listeners are passionate about the environment and sustainability initiatives," said Roger LaMay, WXPN general manager. "Providing a designated area within our festival that focuses on these issues is a terrific way to connect our audience with valuable information and resources they can use."

This year's Village Green participants are:
Advanced Conservation & Energy Solutions
The Organic Mechanics Soil Company
Footprint Bamboo Active Wear
Earth & State
Media, Pennsylvania
SolaDesign
Greenable
Airtight Spray Foam
groSolar
AXA Advisors
Arbonne International
Grass Roots Organics
Waste Oil Recyclers

Additionally the Kids Corner Area, located within the Camden Children's Garden, will feature interactive demonstrations on how kids (and adults) can do their part to keep planet Earth happy.

The XPoNential Music Festival has drawn increasingly larger and enthusiastic crowds since it began in 1994, and the station expects over 17,000 attendees during the three-day weekend. The venue was selected by WXPN for its spectacular waterfront views, natural amphitheatre for great sound, easy access for public transportation, lush open green spaces and array of local attractions, such as Adventure Aquarium and the Camden Children's Garden, which serves as the Kids Corner venue.

Gates open at 4 p.m. on Friday, July 24; and noon on Saturday and Sunday, July 25 and 26. The Kids Corner Area will be open from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Camden County's Wiggins Park is located on the Camden Waterfront, between the Adventure Aquarium and the Susquehanna Bank Center and features a promenade along the Delaware River with breathtaking views of the river and Philadelphia skyline.
