Feist - The Reminder - Interscope

Leslie Feist's third album, The Reminder, is another strong outing from this prolific songstress. She may be best known for her work with Broken Social Scene or Kings Of Convenience, but not for long. This new album reinforces what we already knew... Feist is a very, very good songwriter with a memorable voice.

The Reminder is a little mellower than '05's wonderful Let It Die, but the decreased tempo doesn't effect its' overall sonic punch. The production is very simple, almost low-fi in places, but it doesn't seems pretentious at all. The sound fits these sneaky pop gems. She sounds great throughout, especially on the bouncy "My Moon My Man" and the lead single "1234". "Limit To My Love" is truly a wonderful pop love song, and this track especially highlights her distinctive, seductive voice. Elsewhere, Feist mines in some pretty eclectic territory, from torch songs / jazz to folk to indie rock and back again, but it never sounds forced.

Truly, The Reminder should appeal to a wide range of tastes. Consider this a friendly "reminder" to check it out...
