Sense of Place Pittsburgh – WYEP’s Cindy Howes Plays Us 5 6 Cool New Pittsburgh Bands

December 11, 2013 - Our World Cafe Sense of Place Day Trip to Pittsburgh is in collaboration with our affiliate there, WYEP.
We asked WYEP’s Morning Mix host and local music champion Cindy Howes to pick 5 of her favorite Pittsburgh bands right now. You’ll notice that we are talking about 6 today, she just couldn’t leave one off!

She’ll let us know about the wide variety of music playing any night in the clubs of Pittsburgh’s East End. We’ll hear from Cindy’s favorite Pittsburgh musician David Bernabo who leads the band Host Skull. We’ll hear gorgeous harmonies from the Americana band Broken Fences. Cindy will also tell us what is meant by “yinzer pastoral” when discussing the Harlan Twins.

If you go to our Tumblr you can get a free download from each of the 6 bands Cindy Howes plays for us.
