Bell X1: WXPN's March 2009 Artist to Watch

The Irish pop rock band Bell X1, originally known as Juniper, have experienced a multitude of changes on the path to the successful spot they currently hold. Though they were lead by popular vocalist Damien Rice, Rice ended up leaving Jupiter and was replaced by drummer Paul Noonan. Soon after the group changed their name and became Bell X1. Of their three studio-recorded albums, Flock, released February of 2008, has proven to be the most successful. The album reached #1 in Ireland and gained a huge following throughout the U.K.

Bell X1 most recently signed to Yep Roc Records in what is now a successful attempt to break into the U.S. indie rock scene. The band's pop indie sound, with their sweet and never overworked tunes, has carried them around the U.S. on various tours, making appearances on shows such as "Late Night with Conan O'Brien". They've also managed to have their songs featured on a number of television shows, including "Eve, the Apple of My Eye," which was used for the popular TV show "The O.C."

Bell X-1 is currently on tour in the states to support of their fourth studio album Blue Lights On the Runway.
