Temples visited Philadelphia this week, ensuring that all their fans here had a solid Monday night. The four-piece psychedelic-pop band from across the pond are touring with their new album, Volcano. Fans filed in to Underground Arts, and LA band Lo Moon came on to open the night.

Lo Moon intrigued the crowd with an indie-electro-rock sound, playing several songs including their single Loveless. Lead singer Matt Lowell interacted with the audience; he jokingly got few soft “boos” in response to telling the crowd he was a New York Mets fan but the audience was all smiles and swaying during the majority of their opening set.

Once the stage was cleared and reset, the strobe lights went on and Temples came out kicking the set off with “All Join In” from Volcano. Incorporating pianos and a 12-string guitar on stage, you knew you were about to be serenaded with excellent music. The psychedelic sound was paired with a trippy light show and the audience was completely checked in with the band the whole night.

The set list included a good mix of their new songs mixed with lots of old favorites, with Temples’ most popular songs throughout the middle and end of the set, including “Sun Structures” and “Colours to Life.” The band then played “Certainty” to lead into their new songs from Volcano. Other new songs performed include “I Wanna Be Your Mirror,” “Mystery of Pop” and “Strange Or Be Forgotten,” sending fans back out on to Callowhill with smiles positive vibes.
