Joss Stone has been obsessed with soul music since she was a little girl. By the time she was in her early teens she had begun to intuitively hone her now trademark gravelly-but-lustrous vocals by singing along to Aretha's Franklin's Greatest Hits. She began pursuing a singing career at thirteen, securing a record deal at 15, and recording her star-making debut album, The Soul Sessions, which was released in 2003. 10 years on from those stunning debut sessions, Joss has decided to bring things full circle and revisit where it all began - with her follow up to that multi million selling debut; The Soul Sessions Volume 2 is a stunning exercise in vocal poise, passion and power, showcasing some great songs and an artist at the peak of her vocal powers.

The Free At Noon at World Cafe Live in Philadelphia is SOLD OUT, as Warren Haynes featuring Railroad Earth performs a live midday concert on Friday.

This event is SOLD OUT

Legendary and prolific musician Warren Haynes is gearing up to release what may be his most powerful statement to date: his third studio album, Ashes and Dust. This album represents a departure from his usual and a deep return to his roots. While the songs may sound new, some of them have been dear to Hayes for years. You'll hear arrangements that have been carried around for 20 to 30 years, hushed away from the public and saved for the right time.

Haynes has been lauded for his contributions to the Allman Brothers band and the surviving members of The Grateful Dead, as well as his own band, Gov't Mule. But on Ashes to Dust, Haynes has taken a compilation of songs that didn't quite fit with those bands and built a home for them. He blends his beautiful acoustic playing and honey-thick vocals with the backdrop of Americana.

Haynes will be supported by New Jersey-based roots/newgrass band Railroad Earth. The band is now going 14 years strong, with five critically acclaimed albums and one popular live album, Elko. With six band members, Railroad Earth’s music is arranged to the remarkable songs of frontman Todd Sheaffer with seamless musicianship. They've garnered a massive fanbase that takes advantage of the band's taping and photo policy, and you never know what you'll get when you show up to a Railroad Earth jam session. Warren Haynes ft. Railroad Earth will be back in the area for The Peach Music Festival in Scranton, PA on Aug 13-16. For tickets visit here.

The Free At Noon at World Cafe Live in Philadelphia is SOLD OUT, as David Gray performs a live midday concert on Friday.

With more than two decades of songwriting and ten studio albums under his belt, English singer-songwriter David Gray is still going strong and touring to support his newest effort, 2014's Mutineers. The tour will make a stop in Philly at the Mann Center for the Performing Arts on June 19. Gray will be performing a joint show with Philly folk artist Amos Lee.

Although three of his albums have reached #1 on the charts, Gray experienced phenomenal commercial success with the release of his fourth album, 1998's White Ladder. His expansive career since then has seen him shift from primarily acoustic-guitar oriented folk music to more of an indie rock sound, with computer-generated music accompanying his voice and acoustic instrumentation. On his new Mutineers, Gray addresses a need to surprise himself, not just in terms of how he works, but the ideas that drive him and the people he has worked with.

Though the Free at Noon concert featuring David Gray is SOLD OUT, you can tune in and listen to the live broadcast at 88.5 FM or XPN.org. Don’t miss out on another FAN! Join us for the Free At Noon at World Cafe Live in Philadelphia, as June Rich performs a live midday concert on Friday.

Philadelphia folk rockers June Rich make a triumphant return to the stage for a live Free at Noon performance next Friday. It's been twenty years since the band performed live together, but the five-piece is getting back together for a handful of shows to celebrate the anniversary of their 1995 debut LP.

Coming out of a tight-nit musical community based in Manayunk and the Grape Street Pub, June Rich was one of the city's most in-demand bands during the nineties. They earned a Philadelphia Magazine Best Band in Philadelphia award, performed at the opening night of the Electric Factory, played a main stage slot at the 1996 Philadelphia Folk Fest (the only local band to do so that year) and appeared on Mountain Stage.

Join us for this special Free at Noon with June Rich at World Cafe Live by RSVPing here or tuning in at 88.5 FM / XPN.org. June Rich performs at The Ardmore Music Hall on Saturday, June 20th. http://www.ardmoremusic.com/event/814973-xpn-welcomes-june-rich-ardmore/

The DMAs are doing mighty well for themselves as well, with a debut EP released on May 19th. They will appear at a host of music festivals this summer, including Lollapalooza and Governor’s Ball.
