Join us for the Free At Noon at World Cafe Live in Philadelphia, as The Lone Bellow performs a live midday concert on Friday.

Brooklyn-based trio The Lone Bellow released their sophomore album, Then Came the Morning, this week, and they join us next Friday for a live Free at Noon concert. Produced by The National's Aaron Dessner, the album showcases their critically-acclaimed bluesy Americana sound. It's wrapped up in hometown melancholy, captured best on tracks like "Diners" and "To the Woods." Lead singer/songwriter Zach Williams' vocals on "Marietta" are haunting yet catchy, a hybrid that proves The Lone Bellow's second album is even more emblematic than the first. The group is no stranger to Philly, having rocked a main stage slot at the 53rd annual Philadelphia Folk Festival in August and an appearance at NonCOMM in 2013. The band headlines Underground Arts on March 24th, but you can catch them live this Friday by RSVPing to the show or tuning in at 88.5 FM or

The Free At Noon at World Cafe Live in Philadelphia is SOLD OUT, as Father John Misty performs a live midday concert on Friday.

This weeks Free at Noon will feature American folk singer-songwriter Father John Misty. A native of Washington D.C, the artist formally known as Josh Tillman moved to Seattle when he was 21, where he eventually caught the eye of a Seattle recording artist Damien Jurado. Opening for Jurado lead to the creation of his debut album I Will Return which saw the conception of his rather angelic and serene tone that became a mainstay for further projects. Having been a member of bands such as Saxon Shore and Fleet Foxes, Tillman once again chose the solo route this time under his new moniker Father John Misty. His current project I Love You, Honeybear is set to release on February 15th and if featured singles such as the title track and "Bored in the USA" are concerned, the listener could expect to get a sense of longing, passion, and beautiful complacency. Catch him at this Free at Noon concert before he stops back in Philly on April 1, 2015 at Union Transfer.

Join us for the Free At Noon at World Cafe Live in Philadelphia, as Israel Nash performs a live midday concert on Friday.

This week's Free At Noon will feature alternative country singer/songwriter Israel Nash. Hailing from Missouri, Nash garnered a following after people began to take note of his upbeat, ephemeral jams. His latest release, Rain Plans, takes an Americana approach tinged with psychedelic guitar riffs and recorded via analog giving the tracks a warm, vintage aura and forming Nash's unique approach to the album. The record was influenced by his recent residency in Dripping Springs, Texas, a small and humble town that acted as his inspiration. Now the musician is touring the United States, playing this week's Free At Noon in promotion of his show on January 23rd at Johnny Brenda's.

The Free At Noon at World Cafe Live in Philadelphia is SOLD OUT, as Guster performs a live midday concert on Friday.

Alt rock faves Guster took a break from their acoustic tendencies for some experimental rock on Evermotion, the band’s seventh album. Recorded with the help of the Shins keyboardist/Black Keys bassist, Richard Swift at Cottage Grove studio in January 2014, the album is out this month via Guster's own label, Ocho Mule Records. In addition to new music, the Boston band is celebrating 20 years together, and performs at the Theater of Living Arts on April 24 with indie sounds caper Kishi Bashi. Tickets and information on the show can be found at the XPN concert calendar. You can listen to a teaser of the new album at The Key and join us for a live Friday afternoon concert with the band at World Cafe Live on January 16th.

Join us for the Free At Noon at World Cafe Live in Philadelphia, as Drgn King performs a live midday concert on Friday.

Philadelphia duo DRGN King will take some time after a short east coast tour to stop by the Free at Noon show at World Cafe Live upstairs on Jan. 9. The indie-psychedelic group released their sophomore album, Baltimore Crush, in October 2014. Baltimore Crush strays away from the atmospheric electronic sounds of their debut album, Paragraph Nights, and includes more soothing choruses from Angelella with Reynold's power-packed beats. Dominic Angelella and Brent "Ritz" Reynolds come from different backgrounds. In 2009, Angelella, a Baltimore native, was in a string of Philly projects ranging from high-energy punk bands to playing guitar for a hip-hop group. Reynolds was working as a hip-hop producer in South Philly, cutting tracks for various artists like Philly hip-hop group, The Roots. The twosome met during a recording session and decided to collaborate their backgrounds into an experimental outfit. If you can't make the show, you can listen to the performance on 88.5 XPN or online at
