Sweet Soul music is alive and kicking!

Almost every record you know that was a 1960s radio hit had a secret weapon — a crew of L.A. backing musicians known as "The Wrecking Crew." This group, which included the likes of Glen Campbell, Hal Blaine and Carol Kaye, helped artists ranging from the Partridge Family to the Beach Boys make great-sounding albums.

Joachim Cooder is no stranger to collaborations.  Nor is he new to scoring soundtracks.  Yet, Cooder’s newest project combines his past experiences in an expected way.  Son of legendary guitarist Ry Cooder, Joachim’s passion for drums came from watching a band mate of his father’s, Jim Keltner.

Neal Casal is a hot commodity.  In fact, most fans of American rock love his guitar work whether they know his solo music or not.  Primarily a solo artist and guitarist for Ryan Adams’ backing band, Neal Casal’s career was built on country rock sensibilities and tireless out put.

It starts with Chuck talking about the influence of Grover Washington, Jr.’s song “Mister Magic” because it reminded him of the beat of the church music he used to hear.  He was playing with Los Latinos at the time and he decided to get his own band and really use that beat.  He took the Latin feel and the African feel and locked it in as well as the call-and-response and kept going.

Rodrigo y Gabriela play everything from heavy metal to jazz to acoustic folk.  The dynamic duo met in a thrash metal band in Mexico City, but moved to Dublin in 1999. From Ireland, their avant garde music spread to the UK, then to Europe and the United States before finally finding its way back to Mexico.

Zeus makes music that sounds straight out of the seventies.  Yet, a shared interest in making music that garners comparison to The Band isn't what initially brought these Canadian rockers together.

Bassnectar is the multi-faceted project of Lorin Ashton.  Since beginning his "open-sourced" musical project in the 1990's, Ashton and his Bassnectar alias have become nearly superhuman.

Born in 1946, Louden Wainwright can't really be called over the hill, but he's already got the makings for a great legacy. His children Rufus and Martha are veritable musicians in their own right, and Wainwright's body of work has obviously influenced them.

When The Ting Tings exploded onto the pop scene in 2007, their grunge-chic style and sound were destined for success.  Now, five years after the debut of their hit single "That's Not My Name/Great DJ" and four years after their first full length, "We Started Nothing", The Ting Tings are back.
