Sense of Place Pittsburgh – WYEP's Cindy Howes Plays Us 6 Cool New Pittsburgh Bands

Our World Cafe Sense of Place Day Trip to Pittsburgh is in collaboration with our affiliate there, WYEP. Morning Mix host and local music champion Cindy Howes gave us her 5 favorite Pittsburgh bands (right now). You'll notice that their are now 6, she just couldn't leave one off!

Howes also let us know about the wide variety of music playing at any given night in the clubs of Pittsburgh's East End. We'll hear from her favorite Pittsburgh musician David Bernabo who leads the band Host Skull. We'll also hear the gorgeous harmonies from the Americana band Broken Fences. And she will tell us what is meant by "yinzer pastoral" when discussing the Harlan Twins.

Go to our Tumblr Worldcafe.tumblr.com and Sense of Place Pittsburgh for get a musician's view of what makes the city of "bridges and tunnels" so unique. Plus, get a free download from each of the 6 bands Cindy Howes played for us.
